This course will introduce students to recording techniques through practical applications. At the conclusion of the course:
Students will have working knowledge of the recording equipment at Lewis University.
Students will gain a further understanding of the current recording trends of live performances.
Your grade will be assessed through the completion of recording and projects. The Department of Music at Lewis University presents a number of events throughout the academic year. Students in the class will record all events, archive recordings, and distribute copies of recordings as necessary.
Questions about grading should be addressed during my office hours. If you cannot come in during my office hours, please arrange an appointment or consult via Email.
Grading
Group Presentation: 20%
Studio Project: 40%
EMM Festival: 30%
Recording Projects: 10%
Course Schedule

Course Attendance: If a student agrees or is assigned to a recording project and fails to complete the task, the student will receive a failing grade for this course. Students who miss more than 4 class meetings will automatically fail this course.
Recording & Archiving:
Recordings must be completed and archived immediately after the event. Forms for recording/archiving will be made available to students prior to recording events.
EMM Festival:
October 14 - 16. All Students must be available to assist setup, strike, and attend the three concerts. In the first week of classes, students should speak with professors in their other classes to arrange an absence on October 14/15/16. If you are not able to secure an excused absence from your other classes, you must inform Mr. Woodstrup or Dr. McFerron by October 1st. For more on the festival: http://www.emmfestival.org/
Music majors and minors are expected to attend all events sponsored by the Music Department.
