Who am I? What characterize me to become who I am today? Everyone in this world was born to be unique and different in many ways than the rest of others. Although there are limited emotions and personalities that everyone can possess in this world, but what makes an individual unique is by the way of how they express themselves in their own personal ways.
This project is an abstract representation of the self-identity expression. As being an individual myself, there are these many emotions and personalities that make me as a unique individual that is different than many others. This is my self-identity. The videos were composited in different locations and all connected with a theme to each one of them to describe how I feel and who I am as an individual. Although the words being described and the locations that are been shot can be familiar to many others, but what makes this piece my self-identity is the connection of all of the videos combined. To emphasize the self-identity element, I’ve also included the Chinese translation along with the words. I was born and raised with a strong Chinese culture background, so I believe by adding Chinese words to this piece is really what separates to be my own personal self-identity videos from others.
For this piece, I am also inviting the audiences to discover who I am not only as a video artist, but more of who I am as an individual. Also, I would like to challenge the audiences to find the inspiration in this piece, so that he or she can also find his or her own personal self-identity in them.
