Assignment: Source Part A
Due: Sept. 9th
Acquire 50 videos following the criteria listed below.
Hand in the videos as quicktime .mov files.
They each should be DVNTSC videos (720 x 480 30 fps).
The goal of this assignment is to improve your shooting and capturing skills, and to generate source material that will be used in future compositing and Live Cinema projects.
Requirements:
1. Your videos should be named and numbered (“yourname001.mov” – “yourname050.mov”), and the numbers should correspond to this requirement list.
2. Each video should be 5-20 seconds in length.
3. The videos can originate from any type of camera, though a high quality DVNTSC camera is recommended.
4. Your videos may or may not contain audio, but if they do contain audio the audio must be integral to the image.
5. All shots must be from a static camera and not handheld (except where noted).
6. All videos should be properly lit or exposed.
Content:
001-010 = your choice of imagery.
011-020 = moving textures (may be handheld)
021-030 = Stationary focal point with background moving
031-040 = Looping (all videos should end approximately as they began)
041-050 = Appropriated from archive.org
Assignment: Source Part B
Due Sept. 23rd
Requirements:
1) Consider your personal conceptual and aesthetic goals for your work this semester.
2) Acquire 25 videos relating to subject matter you are interested in. The format, length, and file format are up to you, however, this will be discussed at length in class.
3) Acquire 25 still image files (relating to subject matter you are interested in) that are approximately 800 x 600 pixels in size, make use of an alpha channel or transparency, and are saved in the .tif file format.
