Course Number: ARTD 267
Course Name: Intro to Video Art
Professor: Mr. Bart Woodstrup

Assignment 4 - Dogme

Project Proposal Due: April 7th
Final Project Due: May 3/5

Objective: You will work on a final Video Art project that is of your own conception and is a culmination of the skills and concepts you have learned in this course. Influenced by the film "The Five Obstructions" similar challenges will be placed upon your creation. The goal of this challenge is to allow you the opportunity to work creatively within limitations in order to produce an artful and original work.

Assignment: The class, having been divided into four groups, will chose an obstruction. The fifth and final obstruction will be chosen by the instructor and it may negate or transform any of the previous obstructions. The five obstructions are:

1) The video must be shot in black/white - though conversion to b/w is allowed in post production.

2) Two "people" must be visible on screen at all times.

3) No picture in picture allowed (however compositing is allowed).

4) 30 second capture/recording limit per location/scene.

5) The video at some point must examine the concept (not imagery) of nudity or nakedness.

Documentation:
Written documentation is required for each and every assignment given in this class. You must clearly state your intentions for your work - doing so may very well ensure a higher grade. This documentation is required when handing the assignment in. It should be in sentence form, using terminology explained during lectures.
